Amy Engelhard, LMFT (She/Her/Hers) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working in the mental health field for over 15 years. Previous to working at Mindful Families, she had experiences working in day treatment programming, in schools, in the home, and outpatient clinical work. She enjoys working with wide range of clients, but especially enjoys helping individuals and families through family life changes, parenting challenges, pregnancy/postpartum stage, trauma, and childhood concerns. Amy additionally is a board approved supervisor for both the Board of Marriage & Family Therapy and the Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy.

Amy has completed advanced certificate training through Postpartum Support International (PSI) and enjoys working with new parents to address the particular challenges that arise during the first years of parenthood. She basic trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based treatment used in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression and more for both adults and children. Clients who work with Amy can find their own strengths, learn skills to manage day to day life, and use their own insight within a supportive environment. She likes to challenge her teen and adult clients in a gentle, and sometimes humorous, manner.

Amy utilizes play as the language of children within their sessions and is able to work with children as young as six in a play therapy modality. Parents/guardians of child clients are involved in parent sessions and may be asked to be a part of the play as well. Play can be either directive or child-centered and helps children work through many concerns, including anxiety, mood disorders, family change, ADHD, behavioral concerns, and other life stressors.
